A newborn photo shoot is always experienced by parents as a unique and wonderful moment that will give them a gorgeous family heirloom for their family with their newborn photos. How wonderful can it be when it is the future dad who gifts this newborn photo shoot to the future mum? To tell you the truth, it is usually mums who contact me to book their newborn photo shooting but I have recently received more and more inquiries from dads who want to book their newborn photography shoot and I find it awesome! Indeed, sometimes dads do not think a newborn photo shoot is important right after their baby’s arrival.

When it is possible, a newborn photoshoot takes place in the following days of your baby’s birth. When I write in the following days, I mean aournd 10 days maximum. However, it can happen that we cannot make the newborn photo session in the ten first days after your baby’s birth. Sometimes, we have to wait until your baby is 1 month old. At this age, it is usually more complicated to make a newborn photoshoot as your baby will sleep less. To put your baby in the poses you see in my newborn photographer portfolio, we need your baby to be asleep. For a 1 month-old baby, I therefore adapt your baby photoshoot according to her sleeping and awake times to always create beautiful pictures that you will love seeing again and again for years to come :).

On LunaCat Studio blog, you mostly see newborn photos as I am specialized in newborn photography. However, I also photograph babies growing up in their first years of life. Your baby grows so fast, not only in the first days after her birth, but also in the first year. For example, we can make a baby photoshoot in the first months when your baby can keep her head straight, but also later on when your baby can sit by herself. As well, a baby photoshoot can take place when your baby walks. I therefore had the pleasure to see again the lovely Iris who had grown so fast since her newborn photoshoot.

It has been some time since I published a photoshoot on my blog (nearly 2 months, time flies so fast!). It is not that I do not have any newborn photo session to show you, not at all! The thing is there has been a hugh amount of babies lately and I have been under the water capturing all those little and cute babies while they are “young” enough ;). I look forward to showing those babies because you will find them so cute! Every newborn has his/her own personality, even at this age and it is really always different to meet a new baby at every new baby photo session.

Nyon newborn photo session: Calvin

I met Calvin for his newborn photo session 8 days after his birth in Nyon, Vaud. At this age, your baby will still sleep a lot and as a newborn photographer, I can easily manipulate him and put him in curly and cute poses. Sometimes, the baby will resist sleeping because he wants to know what is going on around him as it is not usual to see a newborn photographer (mostly with all the photo equipment I am bringing for his safety and comfort).

During Calvin’s photo session, we used various family objects to customize his photoshoot, such as this wonderful paper creation made by Calvin’s name! I can just admire her for such patience, this is a lovely creation :).

As I just explained, Calvin tried to sneak around to see what was going on during his newborn photo session and I used this time for shooting him wide awake and with his eyes open, as well as displaying his cute little feet, hands and face features.

It was then time for Calvin to go back to his dreams because, as little as he is, he needs a lot of sleeping hours!
